Fire Tests

Our fire laboratory contributes to the improvement of fire safety in buildings.

We test fire preventive materials, fireproofing and fire preventive construction based on the Building Standard Law of Japan, JIS, and ISO. In addition, we study the damage levels of buildings destroyed by fire. Improvement of fireproofing and fire prevention is our most important task in order to protect human lives.

Major testing and research activities

  • Tests on fire preventive materials (noncombustible, semi-noncombustible, and fire retardant materials, etc.) based on the Building Standard Law of Japan.
  • Tests on fireproofing and fire preventive construction (columns, beams, floors, walls, roofs, steps, eaves, fire door and penetration seals, etc) based on the Building Standard Law of Japan.
  • Tests on roofs to external fire exposure based on the Building Standard Law of Japan.
  • Tests on fire preventive materials, fireproofing and fire preventive construction based on JIS and ISO.
  • Investigation and diagnosis of fire-damaged buildings.
  • Planning and measurement for full-scale fire tests.
